This traditional festival marks the beginning of the Hindu calendar month of Baisakha and is observed with great enthusiasm by people of all ages and communities in Odisha.
Pana Sankranti is traditionally called as “Maha Bishuba Sankranti”. This day retains the age-old tradition of distribution of homemade ‘Pana’- a traditional Odia beverage prepared with wood apple, fruits, sweets and sugar or molasses.
